Like A Good Wine

Los Arqueros Golf is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Of those 25 years, I have had the privilege of being manager for the past 15. A lot has happened during that time.

Located in the most luxurious part of Marbella, Los Arqueros has evolved gradually but constantly, investing millions of euros drop by drop. Today it has become a course which, in the words of visiting players, surprises and delights. All a reward for our efforts…

This is all mainly due to the fact that our team is probably among the best, even better than others at courses with greater renown. A key example of this is the introduction of one of the first environmental systems for golf courses in Spain. Furthermore, in 2005 Los Arqueros achieved other certifications that no other club in Spain holds, such as the OHSAS – unknown by most golf courses – all of which has resulted in many suppliers endorsing us time and time again. This makes us different. Technically, I believe we are pre-eminent, and all these factors have come together to create the Los Arqueros of today.

In 2006, we were converted into a members’ club: we sold 350 golf ownership shares in just two months. Something quite spectacular! And, even though we remain a commercial club, members enjoy more than 150 competitions a year, private social events in the clubhouse’s private areas, and other special occasions such as the Barbecue and Rustic Rice Meet-Ups where, nearly every month of the year, we invite all members to our open-air chiringuito (hut) – and which is all free! The latter initiative is not common at other golf courses, so we gain additional points in this respect when it comes to providing innovative attention to our members.

And if all of this were not enough by itself… we are a product of Severiano Ballesteros. One of the greatest stars of all time. His design is exceptional. Without a doubt there is a very good mix here. A special mix that makes us different. Something worth trying – and being pleasantly surprised by. Like a good wine after 25 years in the barrel.
