The superb Chaparral Golf Club course on the Costa del Sol enjoyed a resoundingly successful debut on the Andalucía Golf Challenge-Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe Circuit

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the popular open amateur circuit is being played at a total of 18 outstanding courses – including several of Spain’s most renowned.

Organised by Andalucía Golf-España Golf magazine, the Circuit offers (as the main prizes) five week-long trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, all-inclusive five-star hotel accommodation and golf at three of the Caribbean’s finest courses: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of the Dog and Punta Espada.

Chaparral Golf Club is an exceptional parkland forest course in the heart of the Costa del Sol, located not far from the beach. It is especially characterised by an attractive design enveloped in a verdant forest setting comprising large pine trees, and players can enjoy sea views from several holes.

Apart from prizes for each tournament (DO Somontano wines and sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the top three finishers in each category plus the scratch winner obtain places in the circuit’s grand finale (Atalaya Old, 21 November), with the chance of securing one of the five Dominican Republic holidays.

The top three players in category one were (in order) Francisco Javier Gil Pérez (43 points), Ángel Fernández Molina (41) and Kendrick Loup (40).

Leading the way in category two, with 44 points, was Antonio Sánchez Collado, followed by Cristian Leroy Moreno (also 44 points) and María del Carmen Noguero Aguililla (40).

The scratch winner was José Domingo Gavira Esquivel with 35 points. As for the special prizes, closest to the pin was won by Francisco López Jerez, and longest drive went to Noguero Aguililla and Francisco Javier Gil Pérez.
