With this issue in your hands, our magazine, Andalucía Golf (AG)/ España Golf (EG), celebrates its 25th anniversary. Almost nothing. A lifetime.
Twenty-five years at the service of golf and tourism in Andalusia. Twenty-five years promoting and spreading the image of a segment that is key to the first industry in the region. Twenty-five years that have allowed us to be witnesses, and protagonists many times, of innumerable sporting events in Andalusia: all the Volvo Masters, in which for the first time an official diary of the competition was made, which we made, of course; the Ryder Cup in 1997; the Amex World Championships; the Andalusian and Spanish Opens that have been held here…
In short, in these years we have lived in the front line the evolution of our golf offer, its growth and development; and why not, we have also witnessed big mistakes, the blindness of some institutions and administrations that do not quite understand what golf represents (Sometimes some owners and managers of golf courses, with a myopic and stingy vision, have shown that they had nothing to envy in their eagerness to do things wrong). In any case, in these years there have been more positive aspects than negative ones, more good than bad practices.
Along with golf in this community, we have also grown and evolved. Ours is already the oldest magazine in Spain, the one with the longest history, the only bilingual one, the one with the largest circulation and diffusion, the one with the greatest influence and penetration, and also the only one that is known and appreciated beyond our borders. That is why now that we are celebrating our silver anniversary we have decided to take a qualitative leap and add to the printed magazine another online magazine, also bilingual, which, at least, is worthy of its parent company. From now on AG/EG will walk with two legs, the paper one and the digital one. The latter will allow us to carry out the most ambitious initiative to promote Andalusian and Spanish golf tourism so far: we will reach tens of thousands of golf professionals, specialized tour operators, members of the industry and millions of golf enthusiasts around the world through newsletters and links to our website.
We are going to address directly to the prescribers of golf tourism, to those who decide and influence the vacations of millions of golf enthusiasts around the world. To be able to do so, we have reached exclusive agreements with the most important tour operator associations, specialized press, and with the PGAs of Europe.
After twenty-five years we are more alive than ever and ready, as always, to contribute to the recovery of a sector that is beginning to see the end of the tunnel.
