

Tenerife has eight courses, to which Tecina Golf on the neighboring island of La Gomera is added, making a total of nine courses integrated in the Tenerife Golf brand. In addition to Tecina Golf, these are Buenavista Golf, Real Club de Golf de Tenerife, Golf del Sur, Amarilla Golf, Golf Los Palos, Golf Las Américas, Golf Costa Adeje and Abama Golf, all of them with their own character. In addition, there is a wide range of first-class hotels specialized in providing service to golfers.
Buenavista Golf (18 holes, par 72)
Designed by Severiano Ballesteros and inaugurated in 2003, it is located in the northeast corner of Tenerife, in the region known as Isla Baja. Five of its holes have greens so close to the cliff that the player has the impression of sending the ball directly into the ocean. Its most emblematic holes are the 9th and 15th for their beauty, and the 16th, considered a “turn-breaker” for its technical complexity.
The unique offer of this course is completed with a five-star establishment, Meliá Hacienda del Conde Golf & Spa Resort.
Real Club de Golf de Tenerife
(18 holes, par 71)
Designed by A. Alberto, A. Lucena, Joaquín Laynez and Aureliano Yanes and opened in 1932, it is the second oldest golf course in Spain and retains a certain British character. Located in Tacoronte (north zone), it is a social club open from Monday to Friday for visitors. The course is located at an altitude of 600 and 750 meters above sea level, and features an abundance of centenary trees perfectly integrated into the course design. The 17th hole, the most spectacular of the island, with a high tee, a 40-meter drop to the green with spectacular views of the sea and the mountains.
Golf del Sur (27 holes par 72)
Designed by Pepe Gancedo and remodeled by Manuel Piñero, it is located in San Miguel de Abona (south zone) and offers a fun layout. It opened its doors in 1987 with an important tournament for professionals. It was the venue of the first Tenerife Ladies Open.
It consists of three 9-hole courses (north, links and south), each one par 36. It is an ideal course for walking, with a very gentle movement. The bunkers are black sand, very much in keeping with the landscape and the native plants.
The North Course is notable for its characteristic 3rd hole, which runs along the San Blas Ravine, catalogued as an Environmental Reserve.
Of the Links course, the 5th hole stands out. Its elevated tee provides a fantastic view of both the course and the sea.
On the South course, hole 2 stands out, known as “fried egg” because the green is completely surrounded by volcanic sand.
Amarilla Golf & Country Club
(18 holes par 71)
Designed by Donald Steel and located in San Miguel de Abona (south zone), it is a course with a great personality and extraordinary ocean views. Its emblematic hole 5 forces you to overcome the obstacle of the waves to reach the green, which makes it a jewel for golf lovers and one of the most photographed since its inauguration in 1989. Amarilla Golf also has a 9-hole Pitch & Putt.
Los Palos Golf Center
(9 holes, par 27)
Designed by Integral Golf Design (José María Olazábal) and located in Arona (south zone), it was inaugurated in 1994. It is located in an accessible area protected from the wind, with mild temperatures all year round. It constitutes an authentic garden of colorful vegetation. Practically without slopes and animated by water hazards such as lakes and streams, it is ideal for beginners or to improve the short game.
Golf Las Americas (18 holes, par 72)
Designed by John Jacobs and located in Playa de Las Americas (south zone), the course is built on an amphitheater-shaped terrain facing the sea, highlighting its particular design. Hole 5 is known for being one of the most difficult and original holes on the island.
Inaugurated in 1998, it stands out for its excellent maintenance. During the tour, the player will find numerous waterfalls and lakes adorned by a great diversity of flora and animals.
Hotel Las Madrigueras is located within the golf course with direct access for its guests to the tee of hole 1.
Golf Costa Adeje (27 holes, par 72)
Designed by Pepe Gancedo and located in Costa Adeje (south zone), it is a course that respects the staggered topography of the traditional agricultural terraces, something that makes it unique.
It is the first golf course in Europe whose grass variety is the paspalum, perfect to withstand the saline waters, typical of the island; the greens, bermuda tiff eagle, give firmness and speed, a quality highly valued by golfers. Throughout the entire course you can enjoy the beauty of the native flora. Its 4th hole is possibly one of the most photographed in Europe. Inaugurated in 1998, it hosted the men’s Open de España in 2003 and the women’s Open de España in 2014. Golf Costa Adeje has just joined the prestigious “World of Leading Golf” group.
Abama Golf (18 holes, par 72)
Designed by Dave Thomas and located in Guía de Isora (south zone), it was inaugurated in 2005 and is one of the best courses in Europe according to the specialized press. It offers spectacular views of the sea, the island of La Gomera and, occasionally, the island of El Hierro, on a course surrounded by lush vegetation, with 22 lakes connected by impressive waterfalls, white sand bunkers and 25,000 palm trees. The course reaches 315 meters above sea level at its highest point. The course surrounds the impressive The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, a luxury resort with the highest level of services.
Tecina Golf (18 holes, par 72)
Designed by Donald Steel and located in Playa de Santiago (island of La Gomera), it opened in 2003 and is only 40 minutes by ferry from Tenerife, on the neighboring island of La Gomera. A course as fun as it is spectacular, offering incredible views of the ocean and Tenerife.
The native vegetation increases its exuberance as the holes get closer to the sea where the player will find numerous fruit trees: mango, avocado, banana. Home of the Fred Olsen Challenge of Spain since 2009, next to it is the cozy Hotel Jardín Tecina, full of amenities tailored to the golfer.
