After four days of high competition, the 19th edition of the World Final of the “World Golfers Championship”, held last week in Durban (South Africa), was won by the South African team with Indonesia in second place.
The components of the Spanish team did not reach their usual level of play and finished with a lower result than expected, finishing in 22nd position. The size and level of the participating countries was enormous.
However, the organization of the championship awarded the team with the presentation of the trophy. “Sven Tomb” to fellowship, positive spirit and sportsmanship. “Spain has shown that the World Golfers Championship is not only about winning, but also about making new friends and enjoying golf,” the organizers commented on their decision. The award was presented by Mona Tumba, the widow of the event’s founder.
The Spanish team was composed of players Francisco Mingo Lara, Lorenzo Granell Ruíz, Ángel Diego Hernández Mula, Alfonso Ureña Carrasco, Fernando Martín Pérez and Ana Nyblom as captain.
