Justin Thomas, champion of champions of the American Tour

Justin Thomas has just achieved his third victory on the PGA Tour, winning with great authority the Tournament of Champions at the Plantation Clourse in Kapalua, Hawaii. The American totaled 270 strokes, 22 under par, and won a prize of 1.2 million dollars.

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama finished second, three strokes behind the winner. The third place was shared by the Americans Jordan Spieth, Pat Perez and Ryan Moore, three strokes ahead of Matsuyama.

“I think I take a lot away from this title,” Thomas said. “I wasn’t riding crazy, but it was a little frustrating to see some friends and peers my age doing well,” the champion added.

Thomas closed Sunday with a fourth round of 69, the highest round he had in the four days of competition, because in the three previous rounds he repeated 67 strokes.

This was Thomas’ third PGA Tour tournament victory. The previous two came at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia.
