The SAN MIGUEL XVI CIRCUITO ANDALUCÍA GOLF CHALLENGE COSTA DEL SOL DESTINO REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA BY GLOBALIA stopped for the first time at Atalaya New, which hosted a new event of the circuit last Thursday 28 May with an excellent turnout despite being played on a weekday.
The circuit debuts at Atalaya New
It was the first time the event had been played at Atalaya New, the second course at Atalaya Golf & Country Club. On other occasions the tournament had been held on the Old course —one of the finest layouts on the Costa del Sol and host of the Circuit Final in 2020—, but the New proved to be a genuinely interesting complement.
Shorter and narrower than its older sibling, the New has the peculiarity of bermuda greens, which heightens the variety of courses enjoyed by the members of this magnificent international club, led for many years by its general manager, Andrés Sánchez. Both layouts are in excellent condition thanks to the professional team coordinated by Raúl Tineo.
Many players were facing Atalaya New for the first time, and their impressions were more than favourable.
Atmosphere, refreshments and experiences
Throughout the day, players enjoyed two refreshment points with San Miguel beers and Solán de Cabras water. At the 1st tee, Hospital Recoletas Salud Marbella was also present along with a Maserati Grecale, courtesy of Safa Motor — a vehicle for which a weekend enjoyment experience will soon be raffled.
In the welcome pack, participants received an invitation to a cocktail at the Latte Lagoon restaurant, which also put up a dinner for two as the prize for the closest ball to the pin on hole 13.

Qualifiers for the Andalucía Golf Challenge Final
The winners of each category and the scratch winner earn a place to play in the Circuit Final; they will be contacted in due course. The remaining places, including any that arise from withdrawals by already-qualified players, will be filled in order of the Ranking Costa del Sol.

The prize-giving was presented by the club president, Cachi Siconolfi, with the collaboration of Gabriela Jones, from the Puerto Banús golf boutique Fairway + Blue.
