Turismo Costa del Sol has stepped up the promotion of the province’s golf tourism with a road trip through Amsterdam and Paris, developed alongside partner companies from the segment with the aim of consolidating the destination’s standing in two of Europe’s leading source markets for this travel product. The initiative made it possible to present the Costa del Sol’s specialised offering to professionals with real influence over recommendations and sales.
Workshops and golf days at The International and Golf Apremont

The initiative included dedicated events in both cities, combining professional workshop sessions with golf days at The International, in the Netherlands, and Golf Apremont, in France. This format created a working environment geared both towards commercial promotion and towards building professional relationships among the participants.
The workshops held in both cities enabled professional meetings between the attendees and allowed them to exchange information on trends, demand and the evolution of golf tourism in markets such as France and the Netherlands. The golf days complemented the commercial activity and fostered a more personal setting for developing professional relationships.
90 professionals and 15 partner companies, with Mijas as a destination
In total, the activities brought together 90 specialised professionals, including travel agencies from the golf segment, course directors and other sector professionals. The encounters made it possible to present the latest additions to the Costa del Sol’s offering and to strengthen awareness of the destination among some of the leading travel intermediaries linked to this segment.
The initiative counted on the participation of 15 partner companies, among them the destination Mijas, which accompanied Turismo Costa del Sol throughout the various activities carried out during the road trip. The joint presence of organisations and companies helped convey a broad and specialised view of the golf offering available across the province. Esperanza González: “Personal contact remains essential”
“This kind of action allows us to work directly with professionals who have a very significant influence over the choice of golf destinations,” said Esperanza González, CEO of Turismo Costa del Sol. She also stated that “personal contact and the chance to showcase the offering in a specialised way remain fundamental elements for marketing this segment.”
Golf tourism, a strategic segment all year round
González further stressed that “golf tourism continues to be one of the strategic segments for the Costa del Sol thanks to its ability to attract visitors throughout the year.” She added that “markets such as France and the Netherlands maintain strong interest in destinations with a well-established offering, good connectivity and a wide network of quality courses.”
The initiative reinforced the Costa del Sol’s presence in two priority markets for the golf segment and consolidated contact with professionals specialised in this travel product. The interest shown by attendees confirmed the province’s strength as one of Europe’s leading golf destinations, a position underpinned by the well-established Costa del Golf offering and its ability to keep attracting travellers linked to golf tourism.
