The Alcaidesa Golf team won the XVII Pro-Am Costa del Sol Tourism, an annual event organized by Turismo Costa del Sol and which on this occasion paid tribute to Edmundo Sanchez del Rio for his professional career and his contribution to the promotion of the Golf segment in the province of Malaga. About 150 players gathered in this edition, which took place in Valle Romano Golf Club and Almenara Golf Resort, and in which La Cala reached the second place by teams and La Quinta Golf the third.
This initiative, which Turismo Costa del Sol organizes in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Trade of the Andalusian Government and Golfspain.com, has become the annual event where the entire supply in the province of Malaga meets to strengthen relationships and to chart ways of joint promotion.
In the awards ceremony for professionals, sponsored by GolfSpain, Pedro Domínguez (first prize, with 73 gross strokes), Joaquín Millán (second prize, with 74) and Ildefonso Esquivel (third prize, also with 74) stood out, while in the tournament for guests and the media, in the individual category, Maria Isabel Trillo (first classified), Juan Francisco Lazo (second) and Javier García Beveride (third) occupied the podium.
Parallel to this tournament, another one was also held with the participation of sponsors, collaborators, guests and the media at the Almenara Golf Resort, where around 40 players competed.
This XVII edition of the Pro-Am Costa del Golf Tourism also had the collaboration of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, Tryp Estepona Valle Romano Golf, Gambito Golf, Heineken, Coca-Cola, El Pimpi Bodega Bar, Champagne JM Gobillard et Fils, Test and Rent, Prima Rent a Car, Ontur, Sabor a Málaga, Mercafrutas and Botanic.
The tournament, held at Valle Romano Club de Golf, pitted 25 teams of four players each (three managers and the golf professional), trained at the golf courses themselves, against each other as they competed to win this seventeenth edition.
Recognition of Edmundo Sánchez del Río
As is now tradition, the Costa del Golf Tourism Pro-Am recognized the professional career of an outstanding figure for golf in the province of Malaga. In this seventeenth edition, Edmundo Sánchez del Río was honored. Thus, a plaque of recognition was presented to his son Miguel Angel Sánchez del Río.
During the awards ceremony, the general director of Costa del Sol Tourism, Arturo Bernal, acknowledged the tradition of the tournament, which is conceived as a day of fraternization to promote relations between all the agents of the golf industry in the province: courses, companies and institutions.
