Pablo Alonso, from Málaga federated by Guadalhorce Golf Club, and Marina Escobar, from Almerimar Golf, have won the Gran Premio Copa Maestranza, which was held this weekend in two consecutive days at the excellent facilities of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.
In the men’s category, Pablo Alonso was proclaimed scratch winner after winning the playoff against Felipe Barrena, also from Malaga and sponsored by the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, who finally came in second place. Both players finished the 18 holes of the second round held today with the same result of 149 strokes (+5).
Meanwhile, Marina Escobar has accumulated a total of 154 strokes -the result of two cards of 78 and 76 impacts each one- to take the first position. With four strokes more, has finished the also from Almeria Marta Lopez, who -with a round of 76 strokes today- has managed to improve the card of 84 that she delivered during the first day, to move up to second place.
Special mention also goes to the player from Bellavista Golf Club, Cristobal Guerrero, who was the best player in the Mid Amateur category in the scratch classification, with 153 strokes and only four strokes behind the winner.
As for the handicap classifications, with 138 net strokes, the winner in the men’s category was the Isla Canela member, Javier Vázquez. He was followed with 142, the player of San Roque Club, Zak Karkaletsos.
Inmaculada Ortiz (La Monacilla Golf) has collected the prize to the first classified handicap with 144 net strokes, being the second place for the local player, Mª Valle García. Finally, also federated by the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Francisco Bolaños, has been handicap winner in Mid Amateur category.
After the competition, the awards ceremony was attended by Rafael Domínguez, President of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla; Marino Torres, President of the Club’s Golf Committee; Javier Bengoa, member of the Test Committee; Fernando Pascual del Pobil, Chief Referee of the test; and Gonzalo Goy, Sports Director of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla.
