Andalucía Valderrama Masters, declared an event of exceptional public interest

With less than three months to go before the start of the Andalucía Valderrama Masters, the European Tour event to be held for the fourth time between October 18 and 21 at the Real Club Valderrama and whose title is being defended by Sergio García, the tournament has received a spectacular accolade with the official declaration of its declaration as an event of exceptional public interest.

This consideration, which for the first time receives a golf tournament in our country, has been approved in the General State Budget Law and published in the BOE (Official State Gazette) on July 4.

Therefore, the Andalucía Valderrama Masters, which is sponsored by the Consejería de Turismo y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, will be an event of exceptional public interest for the purposes of the provisions of Article 27 of Law 49/2002, of December 23, on the tax regime for non-profit entities and tax incentives for patronage.

According to Nathan Homer, Commercial and Marketing Director of the European Tour, “this is great news that will help the tournament, which now enters the final stretch, to consolidate and continue to grow in future editions.

“The Andalucía Valderrama Masters is sufficiently attractive to attract members and sponsors, proof of this was the success of the last edition that had a magnificent host and winner as Sergio Garcia; added to the fact that the television broadcast reached more than 400 million homes on five continents, and 41,494 fans could enjoy it in a privileged place like the Real Club Valderrama.

“It will undoubtedly be a remarkable impact that will benefit all those entities that sponsor the tournament and take advantage, in turn, of the incentives established for its status as an event of special public interest”.

The tournament will enjoy this consideration from July 1, 2018 until December 31, 2020, that is, during the next three editions. This declaration will be a significant incentive for all those companies and entities interested in sponsoring the event, as they will be able to obtain a tax deduction of up to 90% of their contributions, the maximum tax incentive provided by law, once the administrative bodies that will oversee the taxation of the event are created.

In this way, the Andalucía Valderrama Masters joins other top-level sporting, cultural and business events that enjoy the same status, such as the Barcelona Mobile World Congress, the Jacobean Holy Year 2021, the Universo Mujer II Program, the VIII centenary of the Cathedral of Burgos or the Barcelona World Race sailing race, a circumstance that makes clear the importance and weight of the tournament in the Spanish sporting panorama.
