Andalusia wins the Interterritorial of Spain of Pitch & Putt

The Andalusian team, captained by Pedro Rodríguez Cielos and composed of Leonardo Axel Lilja, Antonio Pimentel, José Luis López Bautista and José López Moncayo, has been proclaimed champion of the seventh edition of the Interterritorial of Spain of Pitch & Putt.

Thus, Andalusia reedited the title won last year at the Alhaurín Golf course in Malaga and adds its third victory (2007, 2012 and 2013) in the list of winners of this competition.

The Andalusian quartet starred in an unbeatable championship debut in the Centro de Tecnificación de la Federación de Golf de Madrid after placing outstanding leader with a cumulative 149 strokes, the result of the 48 (-6) of Leonardo Axel Lilja, the 49 (-5) of Antonio Pimentel and 52 (-2) of José Luis López Bautista.

The reigning champions faced the second and decisive day with comfortable advantages of six and seven strokes over Madrid and the Balearic Islands, respectively, and were getting a little closer to their second consecutive victory.

However, a dazzling start by the Madrid players in the final round allowed them to catch up with the Andalusian team and even take a two-stroke lead at the 15th hole.

Thus, when it seemed that the Andalusian team was slipping away from victory, a sublime reaction from our players provoked a new change at the top of the standings that would ultimately be definitive.

In the end, Andalusia took first place with a total of 308 strokes after Antonio Pimentel’s 52 (-2), José Luis López Bautista’s 53 (-1) and Leonardo Axel Lilja’s 54 on the last day.

The second position, one stroke behind the two-time champions, went to the team from Madrid and in third place, with a total of 318 strokes, was the Balearic Islands team.

Sixth national title for Andalusian Pitch & Putt

With the triumph in the Interterritorial 2013, the Andalusian Pitch & Putt has completed another spectacular season in which it has added six national titles and has reaffirmed its absolute dominance in this variety of golf.

It should be recalled that in 2013, Leonardo Lilja and Ana Peláez have revalidated their titles as Spanish P&P champions; Antonio Pimentel and Leonardo Lilja himself have also achieved their second consecutive victory in the Spanish Doubles Championship; and Antonio Fernández and Rosa Sánchez won the Spanish Senior Men’s and Women’s Championship of this golf modality.
