The duo formed by Andrés Pastor Ayllón and Víctor Pastor Rufián has won the first edition of the International Pitch & Putt Couples Championship of Andalucía held at Aloha Golf. This tournament, played in three rounds of 9 holes under an attractive and novel format that combined Foursome, Fourball and Canada Cup, has been a resounding success. In fact, a total of 36 pairs participated (maximum allowed in P&P competitions), leaving 40 others out of the cut and on the waiting list.
The day began with the partial triumph of the tandem composed by Leonardo Axel Lilja Moyano and Antonio Pimentel Jiménez in the foursomes. The current Spanish Doubles champions invested a round of 25 strokes (-2) and reaped a minimum income of 1 stroke over their closest pursuers.
In the second and last round of the morning session (Fourball), Andres and Victor Pastor delivered an extraordinary card of 21 strokes (6 under par), managing to climb to the first place in the table, equal at 46 strokes with Leonardo Lilja and Antonio Pimentel.
In the afternoon session (Canada Cup) and with everything still to be decided, the couple from Cordoba once again demonstrated their superiority with two excellent cards of 24 and 23 strokes.
Antonio Pimentel and Leonardo Lilja achieved the runner-up position with a cumulative score of 96 strokes, 3 more than the first Andalusian Pitch & Putt Doubles champions.
If in the scratch classification the first position went to a pair formed by father and son, in the handicap classification this pairing also worked to perfection, as the victory went to Pedro Rodríguez Cielos and Pablo Rodríguez Padilla with a record of 100 net strokes.
Second place went to another Cordoba duo, David López Romero and Rafael Navas Eslava.
It should also be noted that during this intense, fun and exciting day of golf, three players: Lucio Winckley, Juan Montero Romero and Roberto Rivas Murray, wanted to leave their mark on the competition with three spectacular holes in one.
Present at the awards ceremony were, among others, María Pilar van Dulken, President of the Management Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation; Rafael Fontán, President of Aloha Golf; Antonio Fuentes, Acting President of the RFGA Pitch & Putt Committee; Andrés Jiménez, Sports Director of the host club; and Blanca Hermana, Chief Referee of the championship.
