With Turismo Costa del Sol as the main sponsor, this tournament consolidates itself as an ideal platform to promote the region, attracting golf lovers to one of the most important golf destinations in Europe.
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the LET calendar, bringing together the best players on the circuit. The 2024 edition will not only be key to define the winner of the Order of Merit of the European circuit, but will also allow players and attendees to enjoy a course located just minutes from the city of Malaga, a unique place for its rich cultural, gastronomic and tourist offer.
In addition, the Costa del Golf continues to demonstrate its firm commitment to women’s sport and will host the Open for the eleventh time in its modern stage, after the editions held at Flamingos (2010), La Quinta (2011 and 2018), Aloha Golf (2016 and 2019), Real Club de Golf Guadalmina (2017 and 2020), Los Naranjos (2021), Alferini (2022) and Las Brisas (2023).
The president of the Provincial Council and Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, has expressed his satisfaction that the destination will once again host a renowned competition such as the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España presented by Oysho, “which will put us back in the center of all eyes on the golf scene worldwide”.
“Our more than 70 golf courses make the Costa del Golf in the continental European destination with the highest concentration of facilities. The excellent equipment that we have also has a huge wealth of tourist products that are essential to lead the attraction among fans of this sport at national and international level,” said the president of the Diputación de Málaga and Costa del Sol Tourism, Francisco Salado, claiming the great effort in terms of infrastructure that has made the destination in recent years. “There is no doubt that the celebration of events such as the Open are an excellent opportunity to show the facilities we have, in good condition throughout the year,” he said.
Also, Salado has pointed out that golf and the virtues it generates in the tourism of the Costa del Sol must be valued, in addition to its potential: “From Turismo Costa del Sol we have spent many years betting on golf as a tourism product, being a fundamental factor in the deseasonalization, since the high season for the practice of this sport does not coincide with that of general tourism”. Salado has also pointed to the golf tourist as a particularly interesting profile for the province: “I never tire of repeating it, golf still has great potential for growth and brings significant benefits for the Costa del Sol with high purchasing power customers that generate wealth and boost other complementary segments”.
Finally, Salado stressed that golf is a segment of remarkable attraction for tourists and of great promotional value: “Once again, we should be proud of the joint work of various institutions, which have returned to row in the same direction for the promotion of a tourism segment, such as golf, which brings so many benefits to the destination of the Costa del Sol, demonstrating that our destination is amply prepared to host such events”.
