The Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucia Masters – Sergio Garcia Foundation, which was scheduled to be held from April 30 to May 3 at Real Golf Club Valderrama (San Roque, Sotogrande) has been postponed due to the threat posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The decision was taken after consultation with all the entities responsible for the tournament (the Junta de Andalucía, the Real Club Valderrama, the Sergio García Foundation and the main sponsor, Estrella Damm), following the restrictions on movement imposed in Spain due to this health emergency.
All parties involved are in contact with a view to finding a new date for the tournament later this year.
“We are concerned about the evolution of the coronavirus in the world and we think that postponing the tournament is the best decision,” explains Javier Reviriego, general manager of Real Club Valderrama. “We will work with the European Tour and our sponsors to find a new date for this magnificent event. From Valderrama, we hope to welcome players and fans soon, once we overcome this exceptional situation.”
Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour, said: “We are closely monitoring the evolution of the situation and continue to assess the impact of the coronavirus on all our tournaments, but after discussing it with all parties involved, it is appropriate to postpone the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters – Sergio García Foundation. The health and well-being of everyone remains a priority for us.”
