The splendid Finca Cortesin course, designed by the prestigious American designer Cabell B. Robinson and the scene of three editions of the Volvo World Match Play Championship, has hosted with great success the eleventh meeting of the Andalucia Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe, a circuit of open amateur championships which this year celebrates its tenth edition and is played in sixteen excellent courses, among which are several of the best in Spain. This Circuit, organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf, has as its grand finale prize five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.
On a sunny day, the strong Levante wind and the fast greens (some of the fastest on this year’s Tour) made the players bring out all their golfing potential to pass the course with flying colors. In addition to the intrinsic quality of the course, the five-star service provided at this emblematic Costa del Sol club located in the municipality of Casares is another of the features most appreciated by the players.
Apart from the prizes of each tournament (premium branded clothing from the store Fairway+Blue in Puerto Banús, wines D.O. Somontano, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the first three classified in each category plus the scratch winner of each tournament get a place to play the grand final of the Circuit (Atalaya Old, November 21) and thus opt for one of the five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic.
As far as the sporting results are concerned, in the first category the victory went to Joseph Shirazi (42 points), followed by Francisco Javier Martín Ramírez (36), and Feliciano García Barragán (36). As a curious fact, it should be noted that the latter player was also third in Finca Cortesín in the 1987 edition of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit and also won that year the special prize for the longest drive. As Shirazi has achieved a place in the final of the Circuit as scratch winner, the fourth classified in the first category, Diego Mena Galiano, who registered 33 points, gets a place in the final.
In the second category, Antonio Capasso won with 41 points. In second place, with 40 points, was Diego Ange Serrano, while third place went to Luis Miguel Rodríguez Martínez, who scored 39 points.
In the scratch category, the winner was Joseph Shirazi, with 34 scratch points, two more than Francisco Jesús Martínez Ramírez and Javier Reviriego Bóveda.
The special prize for the closest ball to the flag went to Carlos Gutiérrez, who also won the prize for the longest drive, together with Karine Svaldi.
The next event of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahia Principe Circuit is on September 6 September at the RCG Guadalhorce.

The top three in each category plus the scratch winner qualify for the Grand Final, where five one-week all-inclusive trips to the Playa Nueva Romana resort of Bahía Príncipe in the Dominican Republic with golf at Ocean’s 4, Punta Espada and Teeth of The Dog will be decided. The top two finishers in each category and the scratch winner of the Grand Final will travel to the Dominican Republic.
