
The splendid Finca Cortesín course, designed by the prestigious American designer Cabell B. . Robinson and scene of three editions of the World Match Play Championship, has hosted with great success the last appointment of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2017, circuit of championships open amateurs that this year celebrates its seventh edition and that is disputed during the summer in the best clubs of the Costa del Sol (RCG Sotogrande, RCG Guadalmina – Campo Sur, La Reserva de Sotogrande, San Roque Old, Flamingos and Finca Cortesín) which is the same as saying the whole of Spain.
In a day that started cloudy but ended sunny, with a wind from Levante and with a playing field in magnificent conditions in which stood out the greens practically newly released after a great reform carried out this summer that has meant the introduction of a new type of grass in them, Finca Cortesin received great praise both by the participants who had already played it previously and those who were playing it for the first time this time. In addition to the intrinsic quality of the pitch, the five-star service provided at this emblematic Costa del Sol club was another of the most appreciated and outstanding features by the players, among whom numerous nationalities were represented.
The awards ceremony, held at the elegant clubhouse of this prestigious resort that boasts one of Europe’s finest hotels, award-winning restaurants, an impressive spa and a splendid beach club, was attended by Andalucía Golf/España Golf editor Antonio Sánchez, Finca Cortesín’s Director of Golf Miguel Girbés, and the executive of the Fairway+Blue golf clothing and footwear store in Puerto Banús, Gabriela Johne.
In terms of sporting results, in first place, the victory went to Lars Hoft, with 36 points, followed by Sergey Falaleev, with 32, and Feliciano García Barragán, Miguel Girbés and Azim Adatia, who tied on 31 points.
In the second category, Sergey Kuznetsov won with 44 points. In second place with 42 points was Mrs. Zahid, while third place went to Michael Rygol, with 38 points.
In the scratch category, the winner was Sergey Falaleev, who won a magnificent painting by the prestigious painter Alejandro Hermann, who has a studio in Marbella.
The special prizes for closest ball to flag and longest drive went to Mrs. Zahid and Feliciano García Barragán.
