The sixth round of the Andalucía Golf Challenge Destino “La Romana Golf Club Bahía Príncipe” Circuit in the Dominican Republic was played on Saturday, August 18 at another of the magnificent courses of the Costa del Sol: Flamingos, one of the three 18-hole courses that make up Villa Padierna Golf Club. Flamingos, venue of professional tournaments of international prestige (final of the European Seniors 2002, 2003 and 2004, Open de España Femenino 20180…), is a course that, apart from its intrinsic quality, stands out for its careful aesthetics that evokes landscapes of Tuscany. It has a large number of different species of trees and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The greens are generously sized and the fairways are narrow in the first half of the course, where more precision is required than in the second half. The fairways are planted with bermuda, except on certain holes, where there is raygrass, while penncross has been used on greens and tees. The bunkers are of white marble.
As usual, players from all over Andalusia: Huelva, Almeria, Seville, Cordoba, Malaga, etc., and from countries such as Sweden, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Switzerland, etc., attended this sixth round of our Circuit.
The general comment among the 110 players who participated in the tournament was very positive regarding both the course and the service and attention received, as befits a five-star resort among the best in Europe. The condition of the greens and the maintenance of the entire course in general were especially praised, and the refreshment table located between holes 1 and 10, which served soft drinks, gazpacho, sandwiches, fruit, etc., was also very well received.
The prizes for the tournament, top brand golf clothing and equipment, were provided by the store located in Puerto Banús Fairway and Blue and by Holiday Golf. The Somontano D.O. also provided a selection of high quality wines.
The first five classified in each category obtained a place in the grand final of the Andalucía Golf Circuit, which will be played at the RCG Guadalmina (South Course) on September 30 and where the five trips to the Dominican Republic will be decided.
