The European Tour has published its calendar for the 2021 season with four events on Spanish soil, two newly created events in the Canary Islands in the first half of the year and two others, the Mutuactivos Open de España and the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, in the final part of the year.
The first tournament in Spain will be the Tenerife Open (April 15-18, Golf Costa Adeje), followed immediately by the Gran Canaria Open (April 22-25, venue to be confirmed). In October, from 7 to 10 October, the Mutuactivos Open de España (Club de Campo Villa de Madrid), followed by the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters (14-17, Real Club Valderrama, Cádiz).
The calendar announced by Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour, includes the celebration of 42 tournaments -four of them belonging to the Rolex Series- in 28 different countries. The year starts with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship from January 21 to 24 and will close with the traditional Dubai final, from November 21 to 24.
As data of interest, the European Tour has confirmed that there will be a tournament co-sanctioned by the European and American women’s circuits, and that in total there are eighteen tournaments that return to the calendar after having had to cancel their 2020 editions due to the pandemic.
