
Francisco Cabeza Balenzategui has won with great mastery in the seventh edition of the Andalusian Men’s Pitch & Putt Championshipwhich took place during two days in the Malaga course of Alhaurín Golf Hotel & Resort. In the first 18 holes, the player with federative license by Guadalhorce Golf Club delivered an extraordinary card of 50 strokes (-4) that placed him leader, sharing the first place with the local golfer Luis Macho Lasso de la Vega. In the second and final round, Francisco Cabeza repeated his result and with a total of 100 strokes (-8) was proclaimed the new Andalusian champion of this golf variant.
Thus, Francisco Cabeza succeeds Enrique Marín Santander, last year’s winner at Greenlife Golf Club with an overall score of 101 strokes.
As for the rest of the classifications, Andrés Pastor Ayllón, who also signed a second round of 50 strokes, won the Senior category with an excellent 102 strokes (6 under par).
Regarding the Minor category, Pedro Marín Santander invested 51 strokes (-3) in his last round to finish on top of the board.
Also, special mention for Andrés Pastor (hole 15), Scott Christison (hole 7) and Tim Waller (hole 4), authors of three spectacular holes in one in the magnificent par 3 course of Alhaurín Golf.
Finally, as for the handicap winners, Luis Macho was victorious in the first category with an accumulated 105 net strokes.
Another local player, Javier Ramirez Rueda, won in second, and also topped the U16 category.
At the end of the championship, there was a prize distribution and a raffle of sports equipment and green fees among all attendees. The trophy ceremony was attended by, among others, Antonio Fuentes, Acting President of the Pitch & Putt Committee of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation; and Isabel Moreno, Head of the Golf Department of Alhaurín Golf Hotel & Resort.
The next events included in the RFGA P&P Committee’s program of activities will be the Andalusian Women’s Championship and the Andalusian Championship for the Over 35’s, to be held on April 5 and 6 at Aloha Golf.
