The professional and director of the Valle Romano Golf Academy, Gabriel Cañizares, has added another triumph to his career by winning the Gecko Pro Tour tournament at Valle Romano Golf, a course located in Estepona and designed by the prestigious American designer Cabell B. Robinson, disciple and collaborator of the legendary Robert Trent Jones. Cañizares led the two-day tournament almost from the beginning. Both on Tuesday and Wednesday he finished the day with 69 strokes beating the course by 3, which means a -6 in the total count of the tournament. He was closely followed by Carlos Rodiles with 69 and 71 strokes respectively and a total of -4. Cañizares collected his prize from Paul Netherton, founder of the Gecko Pro tour, surrounded by Ildefonso Esquivel, director of Valle Romano Golf, who was very happy that Gabriel was the winner of the tournament precisely in Valle Romano Golf. Gabriel won last November this professional competition that took place in La Cala in what was the first edition of the Gecko Pro Tour. “Being the first is always a source of pride but this time it is an honor for me to win in my course: Valle Romano Golf”, said Cañizares minutes after shooting his last ball that made him the champion of the tournament. The Gecko Pro Tour is a professional golf tour that began its journey only a year ago and already has a great prestige among both national and European professionals. The Tour, which tours the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol, will return to Valle Romano in mid-March.
