This Monday begins the grand finale of the Gecko Tour that will decide who is the next winner of the best winter circuit in Europe. Two candidates to the throne: Marcos Pastor and Manuel Quirós. One from Cordoba and one from Malaga. That’s all. 36 holes ahead to decide who succeeds Jordi García del Moral in the list of winners.
The magnificent course of La Cañada, in Guadiaro, will host the Gecko Masters, the very final, with the participation of 30 players, the best of the best of the season in a circuit that is now in its fifth edition. Pastor arrives at the last tournament, the eighteenth event of the season, with a 1,885-point lead, a significant difference, important but not decisive, as the winner of the tournament will pocket 5,000 points. In other words, if Manuel Quirós wins the final, Pastor would have to be at least seventh on his own to maintain the first position.
On the other hand, Quiros needs at least a solo sixth place finish to have any chance of overtaking Pastor, as the last-place finisher has 390 points. The battle is on the table. Two rounds to know the great champion of the circuit.
Beyond the duel for the Order of Merit, the great Final of the Gecko, which is held in Pro-Am format, where amateur players will have the privilege of playing head to head with professionals who are playing for the victory in the national circuit with more tradition in Spain at the moment, will allow to see in action Jordi García del Moral, Carlos Rodiles, Andreas Andersson and Alfredo García Heredia.
The fifth edition of the Gecko Tour comes to an end with a very exciting tournament. It has been a long time since the last event had so much to decide in the Order of Merit. It should be remembered that, in addition to the honor of being the champion of the Gecko, the winner of the circuit will get the full card of the Alps Tour, the circuit that allows direct access to the Challenge Tour.
