Great success at the RC Guadalhorce of the Andalucía Golf Destino Caribe Tournament

A success of attendance that exceeded all expectations. This is how we can describe the first event of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2018 Circuit Destination ‘La Romana Golf Club Bahía Príncipe’ in the Dominican Republic, which was played over the weekend at the magnificent course of the Real Club de Golf Guadalhorce. Such was the demand for registrations for the tournament that a second day of competition had to be organized to accommodate the nearly two hundred registered for the tournament, with the result that it was played during Friday and Saturday.

In addition to the prizes for each tournament (top brand clothing from the fairway+blue store, D.O. Somontano wines, sports equipment, etc.), the top five in each category will win a place in the final of the Circuit and thus be eligible for one of the five one-week trips to the Dominican Republic, including flight, hotel (Bahía Príncipe) and four days of golf (two at La Romana Golf Club, one at Punta Espada and another at Diente de Perro).

The top five classified in the RC Guadalhorce in first category were, in this order, the following: Ignacio Escobar Stemmann (41 points), José Antonio Rivas Espada (40), Baltasar Carlos Álvarez Ramos (38), Luis Higuera Yela (38) and Pedro Antonio Corral Pedruzo (38).

In the second category, the five who won a place in the grand final were María Victoria Sel Arias (42 points), Rafael Rubio Lacambra (41), Juan Carlos Cuadrado Aznar (40), J. Larrain Fernández de Liencres (40), Outi Kylmaaho (40) and Juan Lumbreras Vivar (40).

The scratch winner was José Antonio Rivas Espada, who was awarded a prize of a painting by the renowned and renowned Marbella-based painter Alejandro Hermann. The special prizes for the closest ball to the hole and the longest drive for men went in both cases to Javier Seara Prieto, while the prize for the longest drive for women went to María Eugenia Navarro Ramos.

The sporting party concluded with a splendid paella in the charming courtyard of the splendid clubhouse, which stands in what was once a stately farmhouse dating from the eighteenth century. Cerveza San Miguel was in charge of serving this drink from a tent set up in the courtyard.

The RCG Guadalhorce course, which celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year, is characterized by its beautiful natural surroundings, free of buildings. The original layout, designed by the Finnish architect Kosti Kuronen, was redesigned by the great Malaga champion Miguel Ángel Jiménez.

The next Andalucía Golf Tour event will take place on May 20 at the Old Course of San Roque Club.
