
The South Course of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, in Marbella, will host the Spanish Amateur Championship from May 29th to June 1st. Female, citation which will bring together the best Spanish players, including those who are developing their careers in the United States. Ainhoa Olarra (handicap +2) will defend her title in this tournament, which counts towards the World Ranking and the Absolute, Girl and Cadet National Rankings.
In Guadalmina will be 123 top players, and among them the highest level of women’s amateur golf. The golfer of the Blume National School Nuria Iturrios (+3.5), winner this year of the Andalusia Cup and the International Women’s Stroke Play Spain, and in a clear upward trend, will be playing. The Barcelona-born Camilla Hedberg (+3.5), who returns this week from the United States to try to win this tournament for the third time, will not be missing either. She already did it in 2011 and 2012.
In addition to the Catalan golfer, Marta Sanz (+2.7), Clara Baena (+2.2), Noemí Jiménez (+2.2), Harang Lee (+2), Rocío Sánchez (+1.9) and Andrea Vilarasau (+1.2) are returning to Spain to play in the tournament.
They will be joined by golfers who have shone this year in national competitions, such as Luna Sobrón (+3.4), winner of the Valencian Community Championship and the Spanish University Championship; Silvia Bañón (+2.9), winner of the Portugal Women’s International; or Eva Domingo (+1.9), who took the title in the Madrid Championship.
The championship, as is customary, will be played in stroke play over four rounds, with a cut-off at the end of the third round at 72nd place.
Parallel to this event -specifically, on May 31 and June 1- the Spanish Women’s Championship of 3rd and 4th Category 2013 will be held at the same course in Guadalmina.
