A freshman at Montana State University Billings (MSU Billings) couldn’t have gotten off to a better start as a player on the university’s golf team – with a hole-in-one on his first shot.
Scott Larson, a native of Kalispell, a small town in Montana, holed his first tee shot on a par 3 at Fox Hills Golf Club in Longmont, Colorado, in a Rocky Mountain Conference college tournament.
Larson says he felt the shot was good and could see the ball was going straight to the flag. After seeing the eagle materialize, he confesses he went into a kind of shock.
Larson’s ace, on a 175-meter hole, was his second ever. His previous hole-in-one came as a junior in high school on a hole that was nearly the same distance as this one.
MSU Billings golf coach Shawn O’Brien says Larson will long cherish his exceptional tee shot.
