Corta Atalaya Golf Club
Located at the foot of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche, the Corta Atalaya Golf Club, the oldest in the Peninsula, traces its origins to the late nineteenth century when English technicians working for the Rio Tinto mining company founded it under the name of North Lode Golf Club.
It was relocated in 1992 in a new settlement, a mining dump that was later repopulated and from which you can see the cut (the cut) from which it takes its current name. Nearby is a picturesque English quarter with Victorian-style buildings that are worth seeing.
One of the greatest charms of this course is the chromatic spectacle offered by the mining cut, with its reddish, copper and ocher tones. It is a 9-hole course with three par 3’s, five par 4’s and one par 5. Half of the course is quite flat, but two of the fairways have quite respectable slopes. The great singularity of this course is that its fairways are made of earth.
