Keep this name: Bryson DeChambeau, who can give much to talk about in the not too distant future. At the moment, this young 22-year-old American amateur has made a big splash by becoming the first leader of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, surpassing none other than the world number one, three and five, that is, Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson.
Of course, DeChambeau is not just any amateur: last year he became only the fifth golfer in history to win the NCAA Division I Championship and the US Amateur in the same year, following in the footsteps of stars such as Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and Ryan Moore.
A native of Modesto, California, at the age of 17 he won the California State Junior Championship and months later joined the golf team at Southern Methodist University, where he is a physics major.
The second day of the Emirates tournament, an official European Tour event, has been delayed due to morning fog, but is expected to be completed later in the day.
