The Islantilla Golf Resort golf course continues to demonstrate its special concern for the most appropriate environmental management of its facilities, becoming the first golf course in Spain to incorporate solar technology to its buggies.
The vehicles, manufactured in the Netherlands, are powered by capturing solar energy thanks to a panel located on the roof, which transforms this energy into electricity. It is used to charge the batteries of the cars, providing them with the necessary autonomy. In addition to the already known advantages of solar energy as an inexhaustible energy source, there is also the low environmental impact caused by these means of transport.
Direct collection of solar energy requires artificial devices called solar collectors; the solar energy generated is the most widely used renewable energy worldwide. Specifically, the buggies are powered by photovoltaic solar energy, considered as green or non-polluting energy within the group of renewable energies, which varies according to the time of day, the atmospheric conditions that dampen it and the latitude.
According to Edmundo Hernandez, general manager of Islantilla Golf Resort, “this is a sign that our facilities are constantly working to improve the service at its golf course for visitors, resident and non-resident players, as well as to offer effective responses to the needs of our customers”.
