
After signing today the best round of the whole week at the South Course of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina, the Asturian Iván Cantero has won the Andalucía Men’s Cup 2016, the event that has inaugurated the calendar of competitions this season.
With a brilliant card of 66 strokes -with seven birdies and one bogey- and a cumulative total of 276 (-12), the Asturian was eight strokes ahead of Pablo Heredia from Seville, member of the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, who has been among the first positions since the first day, and in this last round has signed the par of the course.
For his part, the player of Club de Golf La Cañada, Mario Galiano, finished in third position, tied with Javier Sainz from Biscay -both with 285 strokes (-3)-, and the Czech player federated by Andalusia, Matyas Zapletal, was proclaimed cadet winner with 290 strokes (+2).
After the awards ceremony was attended by Ángel de la Riva, President of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation; Juan Ramón Martínez Landazábal, President of the Real Club de Golf Guadalmina; Ignacio Iturbe, Provincial Delegate of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation in Malaga and Assistant to the President; Pablo Fisas, Member of the Men’s Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; and Diego Molina, Chief Referee of the event.
The event has brought together the most outstanding amateur golfers at national level, and has been played 72 holes Stroke Play for four consecutive days, playing 18 holes each day. This last day was played by the 51 players who passed the cut established yesterday after the third day.
