His wife wasn’t buying it, but Russell Knox got his first taste of feeling like a pop superstar in Shanghai. During a visit the Scottish golfer from Inverness made as defending champion to the Chinese city for the HSBC World Championship, Knox was mobbed by a fan of the music idol believing it was him.
“At St Johns’s Town Centre, a woman came running up to me screaming,” Knox said, although eventually the Timberlake supporter realized the mistaken identity. “When she was near me she said Oh! and walked away.”
However, when the European golfer enrolled in the United States Tour told the anecdote to his wife, the former tennis player Andrea Hernandez, she did not believe the anecdote.
