La Cañada, third in the Children’s Interclub Spanish Championship

The La Cañada Golf Club has finished in third position in the XXXV Spanish Interclub Championship for Children REALEThe competition was held during two days in the Malaga course of Guadalhorce Club de Golf. Guadalhorce Golf Club.

The quartet from Guadiare, captained by Alberto Gutiérrez and made up of Gonzalo Leal, Emmanuel Torres, Mimi Rhodes and Valentina Albertazzi managed to beat Costa de Azahar, the winning team of the last edition, in the final round with a total of 552 strokes.

This year the title of champion went to Club de Golf Escorpión. The Valencian team led from the start thanks to the excellent performance of Belén Amorós, author of an extraordinary card of 68 strokes (4 under par).

On the second day, the team composed of Belén Amorós, Gonzalo Gracia, Patricia García and Javier Uranga managed their advantage perfectly, and even increased their advantage over the rest of their rivals, to open their trophy cabinet in this championship sponsored by the insurance company REALE.

The second place, eight strokes behind the winners, went to Basozábal from San Sebastian, which has now finished second for the third time after their runner-up finishes in 2005 and 2009.

In addition, among the top five classified has also concluded the set of Cadiz Alcaidesa Links Golf Resort. Thus, Sara Garcia, Lucio Winckley, Pedro Marin and Claudia Alnajim, all led by Maria Parra, have risen to fifth position, tied at 559 strokes with the Real Club de Golf de San Sebastian and the Club de Campo del Mediterraneo.

As for the other winners, the Club de Golf de Barcelona won the handicap classification with a cumulative net score of 488 strokes.

At the individual level, Pablo Alonso (Guadalhorce Club de Golf) from Malaga won the Boys’ Junior category after two outstanding rounds of 70 and 73 strokes.

Likewise, Mimi Rhodes (La Cañada) was the best among the Alevín Femenino category players.

Belén Amorós (Escorpión) in the Girls Infantil category, and Andrés Bacas (Costa de Azahar) in the Boys Alevín category, have also been awarded for their magnificent results during the two-day tournament in a host club that this year celebrates the 25th anniversary of its foundation.

The awards ceremony was attended by Soledad Fernández de Araoz, President of the Youth Committee of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; Javier Alonso, President of Guadalhorce Club de Golf; Salvador Álvarez, Managing Director of Guadalhorce Club de Golf; and Diego Molina, Chief Referee of the XXXV Campeonato de España Interclubes Infantil REALE.
