One of Spain’s great golf clubs, the RCG Las Brisas celebrated its 50th anniversary with a gala event at the prestigious Marbella club’s facilities that brought together nearly 300 members and guests.
Club president, Carl. E. Stålberg, welcomed all the members, who were treated to a welcome cocktail consisting of canapés, oysters, champagne, rosé wine from the AIX cellars of Provence, courtesy of club member Cees Weima, and prosecco wine offered by the Astoria winery.
The master of ceremonies led the guests into the gala tent for dinner and a short documentary on the history of Las Brisas(see here). The president addressed the members and guests with these words: “Without the history, track record and experience of the senior members, it would be difficult to move this club forward. We have a fantastic club and facilities, but we also have a hidden asset that we don’t talk about much: our employees.
He also praised the efforts of members who, like Ulf Bexelius, began the process of renovating the course, those of Carlos Jiménez, who was president in the immediately preceding term, for having achieved the approval of the course during the annual and extraordinary meetings, those of Terry Daniells, for leading the major renovation project of the course as chairman of the Greens Committee, and those of Leopold Brees, its treasurer, for managing the financing of the entire renovation. He also received from Pablo Mansilla, president of the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, a commemorative plaque for Las Brisas for its 50th anniversary granted by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.
After the gala dinner, another video was shown(see by clicking here) and a toast was paid to King Felipe. A spectacular fireworks display provided the perfect finale to a night to remember.
