The first edition of the Eclectic Estepona Golf tournament was played on an excellent sunny day with little wind. This delighted the participants, who played both rounds over the course’s first nine holes (the second nine are being renovated and will be open for play soon).

The players enjoyed a course in superb condition and with excellent greens. The prizes included one for the best classified: a flight for two people with Air Europa and two green fees at the Maioris course in Mallorca. The tournament’s main collaborators were: Estepona Town Hall, Air Europa, Grupo 1941, Maioris Golf, Jamones Popi, Bodegas Martín Verástegui and Trattoria La Dolce Vita. Andalucía Golf magazine was the official media.

After the competition, lunch was followed by a prize-giving ceremony and a gifts raffle, presided over by Estepona Town Hall’s councilor for sport Luis Gil Amores and presented by Alexandra Polacci, director of institutional relations at Estepona Golf.

Final Results:
1 José Luis Rodríguez Rodríguez (-3)

2 José Morales Montilla (-2)

3 Lucas Klein Salgado (-1)

The nearest the pin prize on the 5th was won by tournament runner-up José Morales Montilla, who received a case of three Martín Verástegui wines.

In addition to trophies, all the winners received an Andalucía Golf Challenge Circuit cap and a bottle of Martín Verástegui wine, as well as a SAVG DRINKS bag with a diary and a sample of the organic regenerative drink REFLIX. The winner’s main prize was Air Europa flights to Mallorca and green fees at Maioris, while the second and third classified players received polo shirts from the club's own shop, with the Estepona Golf logo.

There was a raffle for wines from Martín Verástegui, a voucher for two green fees at Estepona Golf, a voucher for a meal for two people at Trattoria Dolce Vita (located in the Occidental Banús hotel) and an Iberian cured ham provided by Jamones Popi.

Estepona Golf is undertaking a major renovation of its facilities to offer a high-quality course that can rival the finest in continental Europe’s top golf destination. The club is currently working on a renovation of the second nine’s irrigation system, to ensure efficient irrigation and maximum sustainability.

As noted above, the tournament was played as a double round over the first nine holes, with the best result of the two nines taken into account, a format known as “Eclectic”. There was a shotgun start for all players at 9 am.

The club plans to repeat the experience while the renovation of the front nine is being undertaken at the beginning of summer. The 2nd Eclectic Estepona Golf will be played on the back nine, and the event is sure to be another resounding success.
