Luis Navarro, until a few months ago manager of the Aloha Golf Club (Marbella), has just joined the management of the course and the Río Real Hotel in Marbella, replacing Juan Cantos, who after fifty years at this club has reached retirement age. Cantos, however, will continue to be linked to the company.
Navarro has a long professional career in the world of golf: “I started in this many years ago, mainly as a hobby, sharing the ownership of the Añoreta proshop. I was already an agronomist engineer and then I had the opportunity to take a greenkeeper course with the Andalusian Golf Federation. This gave me the opportunity to join for that job in Alicante Golf, where I later stayed as manager for five years. Later I went to El Bosque Golf Club, where I only stayed a few months because they called me from Aloha, where I have been manager for eight years”.
“Now,” he continues, “I am starting a very exciting stage at Rio Real, probably the best commercial course there could be for visitors, with a fantastic hotel and superb facilities in an unbeatable location, five minutes from the center of Marbella, in the heart of the Costa del Sol”.
“My work will be of continuity with that carried out by Juan Cantos. For us 2014 will be a sort of transition year until next year, when Rio Real will be 50 years old. The property wants to do great things in 2015 and we have the opportunity to prepare for that goal throughout these twelve months, in which it seems that the recovery of golf tourism will begin.”
“Anyway, we have some immediate projects in the pipeline such as the expansion and remodeling of the golf store, and the launch of a new website, which we plan to position strongly in all search engines, which we want to be attractive, easy to use and facilitate online sales of green fees.”
“Also” -he concludes- “we are going to promote the hotel, with thirty rooms, which is one of the most attractive on the Costa del Sol. It is a beautiful boutique hotel with a great service that aims to specialize in golfers”.
