María Beautell will be the image of Tenerife Tourism in the golf courses of Europe, as she will combine the European circuits LETAS and LET. Her next competition will take place at the end of the month at the OCA Augas Santas in Lugo.
This morning, the presentation of Tenerife’s sponsorship of the professional golfer took place at the National Golf Center. The CEO of Tenerife Tourism, Miguel Angel Santos, and the golfer from Tenerife have jointly carried out the presentation of the event in the presence of the media.
In her speech, Maria has dedicated a few words to thank first of all the support of Turismo de Tenerife, as well as the golf courses of the island, and the rest of its sponsors; Lacoste, the Canary Islands Golf Federation, and especially Marta Figueras-Dotti, whose scholarship she is enjoying this year. “Thanks to this support, this year I will be able to enjoy playing golf more without the pressure of thinking that I have to pass the cut to be able to play the next tournament” said an excited María Beautell.
The golfer has also had words of thanks for Sport & Business, her coaches, caddies, family and friends who have helped and encouraged her not to give up her sporting career: “I had a bump a few years ago, I suffered playing, I felt afraid, and I decided to quit golf. But as time went by, a voice inside me told me to try again. I came back, I worked a lot on the mental aspect with people who believed in me more than I believed in myself. And last year I had two victories. I was immensely happy, especially because I had overcome my fears.
For his part, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, Miguel Angel Santos, took the opportunity to recall the importance of golf and sport in general for the island of Tenerife, which has experienced a 5% growth in golfers in 2014, and encouraged attendees to come to the island not only in winter, high season for the island, but also in summer, when temperatures are just as warm and the golf courses much less saturated.
