María Parra debuts on a good note in the American Tour

Competing in her first event on the U.S. Women’s LPGA Tour since earning a card at the Qualifying School in December, Maria Parra opened the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic with an excellent four under par, including five birdies in the first 11 holes, to share the fifteenth place . The player from Cadiz struggled to maintain that good level the next three days and only in one she could not get under par on the course (74-71-73). She finished in 69th place, something very commendable for her debut in the best women’s golf circuit in the world. And she also pocketed a check for 2,783 dollars.

Parra was one of four teenagers who placed in the top 20 of the elite LPGA Tour Qualifying School who earned the category 12 for the 2017 Tour. Maria placed 11th, and curiously did so on the day she was celebrating her 19th birthday.

Born in Guadiaro (near Sotogrande, at the western end of the Costa del Sol), Maria turned professional in September.
