There are few sports like golf that give you so much satisfaction at a very advanced age. If not, just ask C.D. Madsen, an American who at the age of 99 has managed to score a hole in one. The elderly gentleman did it on the course of the Marin Country Club (Novato, California), where he has been a member for 57 years. Despite his advanced age, good old Madsen had not managed to score a hole-in-one until now.
The big honor finally came when he hit his 6-iron on the 16th hole, a 99-yard par 3 . As KTVU reported, “that shot is the greatest joy of a game that both exhilarates and infuriates. A day filled with saddening swings and unforgiving bunkers can be quickly fixed with a good shot, that shot that ensures you’ll play again.” Madson’s unforgettable day ended with a round of 83 strokes, 13 over par.
