The Dominican Republic hosts the PGA Tour Americas final for the first time. PGA Ocean’s 4, in the Playa Nueva Romana residential community, presented at a press conference the Dominican Republic Tour Championship presented by Scotiabank, the final event of the 2026 season, played from 15 to 18 October. The only course in the country with a PGA of America alliance will welcome the tour’s top 60 players, who will compete over four rounds with no cut for ten Korn Ferry Tour cards for 2027.

The alliance between Piñero’s Real Estate & Golf division and the PGA Tour connects PGA Ocean’s 4 with PGA Riviera Maya, at Tulum Country Club, and opens the road to the Tulum Championship for the best players in this PGA Tour Americas final. Also at stake: 600 points and a US$225,000 purse.

A PGA Tour Americas final where everyone still has a chance

The champion will earn 600 points, 100 more than at a regular event, and those who finish in the top ten of the PGA Tour Americas Points List, known as The 10, will also receive an exemption into the Final Stage of PGA Tour Q-School presented by Korn Ferry.

Cam Crawford, PGA Tour Chief Referee, explained that “what sets this final apart is that everyone still has a chance. Even the player who arrives in 60th place can win and finish inside The 10. Every round will have a direct impact on the race to the Korn Ferry Tour, and all of it at PGA Ocean’s 4, a course in excellent condition and with great infrastructure to host it at Playa Nueva Romana”.

“Two countries, two courses and one strategy”

Gonzalo Pan de Soraluce, of Piñero Real Estate & Golf, speaks at the PGA Tour Americas presentation

During the press conference, Gonzalo Pan de Soraluce, Global Director of Golf at Piñero’s Real Estate & Golf division, said the PGA Tour Americas final reflects a long-term vision for golf in the region.

“Bringing the PGA Tour Americas final to the Dominican Republic allows us to show PGA Ocean’s 4 to the world and sustain a sports tourism that attracts investment and develops talent. Our alliance with the PGA Tour connects this course with PGA Riviera Maya, at Tulum Country Club, within the same competitive route. Two countries, two courses and one strategy, and the best players in this final will be able to compete next season at the Tulum Championship”.

A Latin American flavour in the PGA Tour Americas field

Among the PGA Tour Americas players at the press conference was Mexico’s Omar Morales, 23, from Puebla and a UCLA graduate, part of a Latin American contingent that also includes his compatriot José de Jesús Rodríguez and Costa Ricans Paul Chaplet and Luis Gagne. Morales said that “the course is in very good condition, especially the four holes by the sea. I’m sure it will be an incredible experience”.

Also in attendance was Argentina’s Mateo Fernández de Oliveira, who arrives 16th on the PGA Tour Americas Points List after winning the Commissionaires Ottawa Open in July and still has a chance of making The 10. Fernández said: “This is the third time I’ve played in the Dominican Republic and I’m very happy to be here. Ocean’s 4 is a course that will test us players very well; it’s a different terrain from what we’ve played all year, because being by the sea, the wind is a factor. I hope we can take home great memories from this experience”.

As presenting sponsor, we are proud to contribute to an event that showcases talent and strengthens the destination’s connection with international audiences”.

For his part, Jean Carlos Navarro, head of Sports Tourism at the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism, thanked Piñero and PGA Ocean’s 4 for their commitment to sports tourism in the country and for helping the Dominican Republic become the sports tourism hub of the Caribbean. He encouraged everyone to keep working together so that sport becomes a promotional experience that keeps tourists choosing the destination.

PGA Ocean’s 4, host of the PGA Tour Americas final
