A group of young Russian golf players who aspire to become professionals have visited the Costa del Sol in April to develop an intensive training program and play in different courses in the area. Twelve promising young Russian golfers, accompanied by their personal coaches and the Russian national team coach, have completed a seven-day training camp based at Jason Floyd’s International Junior Golf Academy at Valle Romano Golf Club.
The stay and the training program were organized by the Russian Golf Association (the Russian Golf Federation). Three of the members of the expedition already belong to the Russian senior team.
This first experience has been extremely positive for all of them and they plan to repeat it periodically in the future because they consider the Costa del Sol the perfect destination to do so, due to the climate and the quality and abundance of its facilities and golf courses.
Not surprisingly, the Costa del Sol is becoming a preferred destination for Russian golfers, a sport that is still a minority in Russia but is gaining more and more followers.
This tourist destination has been the scene of several competitions for Russian golfers, including the Golf Style Cup Russia-Spain, whose last edition was held at the New Course of San Roque Club, although participants also played on other days at Los Naranjos, La Quinta and Doña Julia courses.
