San Miguel, the sensational golf beer on the Costa del Sol

San Miguel’s amateur circuit, from Costa del Sol to Dominican Republic

The open amateur circuit, organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf / España Golf, had a spectacular start at Finca Cortesín, venue of the Solheim Cup 2023, where the best European golfers defeated the Americans in a historic duel.

A FIRST CLASS COURSE AND IMPECCABLE ORGANIZATION

Finca Cortesín is not only recognized for its sporting track record, but also for its leadership in sustainability, using regenerated water for 100% of its irrigation. In addition, its luxury hotel has won international awards. The demand to participate in the tournament was so high that registrations were sold out two weeks in advance.

A TOURNAMENT WITH GREAT EXPERIENCES

The players enjoyed an exceptional round, accompanied by a high-class cocktail, courtesy of San Miguel and Solán de Cabras. The experience started from the parking lot, where the club staff picked up the clubs and prepared them in the customized buggies.

The tournament began at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start, after the delivery of the welcome packs that included personalized gloves with the circuit marker. Players participated in the prize draw, including a golf trip to the Dominican Republic, courtesy of Air Europa.

San Miguel Andalucía Golf Challenge, La Monacilla

The second round of the San Miguel Andalucía Golf Challenge ‘Costa del Sol Destino Dominican Republic’ by Globalia was played at the magnificent La Monacilla course in Huelva.

Since a few days before the scheduled day of the competition, there was uncertainty as to whether it could be played that weekend in Huelva, due to the fact that the westernmost province of Andalusia was suffering the onslaught of one powerful rain front after another.

However, they were confident in the performance of the course, which passed the test with flying colors.

La Monacilla proved to be a true reflection of José María Olazábal‘s designs, with drainage and movement of the playing surface ensuring that the course could be presented in perfect condition even after a downpour.

The greens were in excellent condition and the fairways were perfect for play.

The 80-player quota was filled with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

The forecast improved to light showers between 12:00 and 1:00 noon. There were even some sunny spells.

In short, thanks to the conditions of this magnificent design, a great day of golf was enjoyed in what is already a classic event of the San Miguel Andalucía Golf Challenge by Globalia, an open amateur circuit that celebrates its fifteenth edition in 2025.

San Miguel’s welcome to the players

Players were greeted with a welcome pack and filled out an Air Europa card to join its SUMA loyalty program and participate in the raffle of gifts of the day and in the drawing for a place accompanying the winners of the circuit to enjoy a fantastic week of golf in the Dominican Republic from October 29 to November 6.

At the cocktail prior to the awards ceremony, in addition to San Miguel beers, the players enjoyed several tapas and a sublime paella with the Valencian touch of Nandi. It is very difficult to get a rice dish just right when cooking for many people, but on this occasion the result could not have been better. The paella was exquisite.

The role played by the Bescansa family should be highlighted: father and son took the first places in the scratch classification and in the second category, although Ricardo son was not eligible for a prize because he was a minor.
