Santa Clara Golf Granada has hosted with great success the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe, a circuit of open amateur championships which this year celebrates its tenth edition and is played in eighteen courses, among which are several of the most prestigious in the country. This circuit has as its grand final prize five nine-day trips to the Dominican Republic including flights, transfers, five-star all-inclusive hotel and golf at three of the best courses in the Caribbean: Ocean’s 4, Teeth of The Dog and Punta Espada.
This was the first time that Santa Clara Golf Granada participated in the circuit organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf / España Golf. The good weather accompanied the sporting day, in which a hundred players participated in matches of three. The greens were in excellent condition. After the competition, lunch was served on the large terrace of the club, with impeccable organization and service to minimize health risks, such as the distribution of players at tables of six seats with the names of the diners who would occupy them. After the presentation of trophies and prizes, there was a raffle of gifts.
Apart from the prizes (wines D.O. Somontano, sports equipment from Holiday Golf, etc.), the first three classified in each category plus the scratch winner obtained a place to play the grand final of the Circuit (Atalaya Old, November 21) and thus opt for one of the five nine-day trips to the Dominican Republic.
As regards the sports results, in the first category, the victory went to Eulogio Jesús García González (41 points), followed by Rafael Leiva Jiménez (40) and Rafael Leiva Cascales (40).
In the second category, Simón Brabant won with 46 points. In second place, with 45 points, was Julián Carlos Martín Rodríguez, while third place went to Amancio Martín Zayas, who scored 43 points.
In scratch category, the winner was Borja García Osorio, with 31 scratch points.
The special prize for closest ball to flag went to Gregorio Salva Mercado, and those corresponding to longest drive were won by Mercedes Sánchez Rovira and Elías Samuel del Pino Fernández.
The next event of the Circuit Andalucía Golf Challenge 2020 Destination Dominican Republic Ocean’s 4 Bahía Príncipe is the 31 October at Chaparral Golf (Costa del Sol).
