The fact that Sergio García, host of the tournament, won the Augusta Masters and the confirmation that Jon Rahm will play the Andalucía Valderrama Masters have been two very welcome pieces of news for Valderrama.
“Sergio’s victory,” says Javier Reviriego, general manager of Real Club Valderrama, “has been extraordinary and a source of pride for us, as well as the fact that Rahm will play in Valderrama his first tournament in Spain as a professional. I think his presence will have -together with Sergio’s, of course- a great impact on the tournament, because he will probably already be top 10 in the world by the time the event is held (days after these statements, Rahm was placed ninth in the world ranking after finishing second in the Dean & Deluca of the American Tour)”.
Thus, at least two of the ten best players in the world will play the Andalucía Valderrama Masters. That is the minimum, says Reviriego, “and there will be more top names that we will confirm as the event approaches”.
As for the tournament scenario, the general manager of Valderrama comments that “we have been with the European Tour agronomists and we have already started to prepare the course”, which will undergo “some changes with respect to last year’s setup (on the occasion of the Open de España, won by Andrew Johnston)”.
Another novelty will be the installation – as was done during the Ryder Cup, the World Championships and the Volvo Masters – of the hospitality tent set up behind the green of the emblematic 17th hole. There will also be a village or recreation center with a restaurant area for the public, occupying a larger area this time than last year.
Expectations of a large attendance at Valderrama are very high, both because of the high level of the players and the dates of the tournament. “I believe,” says Reviriego, “that there will be a bigger turnout than during the Spanish Open, for sure”.

These advance sale tickets will have a reduced price compared to those purchased at the box office on the course during the days of competition.
