Having just turned 37, Sergio Garcia has decided that it is time to put an end to his bachelorhood and has announced that he is going to get married this year, on a date not yet disclosed, with 31-year-old Golf Channel journalist Angela Akins. The golfer from Castellón, winner of 29 professional tournaments throughout his career, has revealed the news through a tweet in which he appears with his girlfriend and toasting with the following text: “Very good news on our part. We are getting married this year! Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for us!”.
The future Mrs. Garcia has worked for Golf Channel since 2015 as a reporter for Golf Central, the website’s nightly news program, and as an interviewer for coverage of PGA Tour tournaments. Akins, a Texas native with a degree in journalism from the University of Texas, was part of the women’s golf team at Longhorn.
The Spanish player attended many of the important tournaments in 2016 with Akins, and the two families have already shown a close relationship.
Sergio has had a turbulent love life. His first known relationship was with former tennis player Martina Hingis in 2009, although he had other relationships, among which Greg Norman’s daughter, Lein Norman, and German Katharina Boehm, with whom he seemed to be getting married in 2014, came to public light.
