Sergio returns to Valderrama for the Andalucia Masters

In two weeks Sergio García will return to Valderrama, the prestigious San Roque venue where the Andalucía Masters will be played from October 27 to 30, a course he “loves” and where the player from Castellón has been very close to winning during three consecutive editions of the Volvo Masters.

García has always felt “very comfortable playing at Valderrama”, and has felt the support of the public in all his performances at the Cadiz course, one of his favorite courses, to which he goes “with great enthusiasm and excitement. I love it, it is a course that requires you to use all the clubs in the bag, something that does not usually happen nowadays. You have to know how to play it with patience and, if things don’t go well, hold out as much as possible and try to make as few mistakes as possible. Winning at Valderrama has an added bonus.

After three second places in the Volvo Masters, from 2004 to 2006, and a tenth place in the inaugural edition of the Andalucía Masters, the champion from Castellón will once again go out “to give everything, just as I do when I stand on the tee of one in every tournament. My passion for golf remains intact since I turned professional in ’99, and I’m still determined to win.

Sergio accumulated three Top Ten in the European Tour this season, was ninth in the British Open and in Qatar, and in Munich he starred alongside Pablo Larrazábal in one of the most exciting play-offs in memory: the player from Borriol made a great putt for birdie on the 18th, finishing tied between the two friends, and it was necessary to play five extra holes in which both played their best golf.

This year on the U.S. circuit he has placed in the Top 20 eight times, including a seventh place at the U.S. Open. But the best thing about Sergio Garcia, who has been climbing up the world rankings lately, is not only his magnificent performances in 2011, but also that he is back to smiling and “enjoying himself on the course”.

The Junta de Andalucía is the owner of the rights and main sponsor of the Andalucía Masters, a tournament that it organizes together with Octagon, a company specialized in sports marketing.
