The splendid Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande, masterpiece of Robert Trent Jones senior, one of the most prestigious and prolific designers of golf courses of all time, has hosted with great success the Tournament Andalucía Golf Challenge, included in the circuit of championships open amateurs this year celebrates its seventh edition and is played during the summer in the best clubs of the Costa del Sol.
As usual in the tournaments organized by the magazine Andalucía Golf, this event brought together players among which many nationalities were represented, with a majority of Spanish players.
The amateurs who attended the tournament generally played at a good level and enjoyed enormously of the course, which presented magnificent conditions. All without exception praised the design and condition of this course, considered one of the best not only in Spain but also in Europe.
The awards ceremony, on the upper terrace of the club, overlooking the golf course and the sea and where a splendid cocktail was served, was chaired by the editor of Andalucía Golf, Antonio Sánchez, the director of RCG Sotogrande, Agustín Mazarrasa, and the executive of the golf clothing and footwear store Fairway + Blue, based in Puerto Banús, Gabriela Johne.
In terms of sporting results, in the first category, the victory went to Christer Erikisson, with 39 points, followed by José Antonio Rigaud Moreno, with 38, and Juan García de las Heras, with 37.
In the second category, Jan Policki won with 41 points. Enric Meier Roig was second with 34 points, while Antonio Zarco Martínez took third place with 33 points.
In the scratch category, the best was Pedro Miguel Cervey Mendoza, who won a magnificent painting by the prestigious painter Alejandro Hermann, who has a studio in Marbella.
The special prize for the closest ball to the flag went to Pedro Miguel Cevey, while the longest drives, female and male, went to Lina López Martín and Azim Adatia.
