Spieth beats McIlroy in US PGA betting odds

For the first time in their young careers, Jordan Spieth is the betting favorite to win against Rory McIlroy in a major in which both are participating. A victory for the American in the US PGA Championship is priced at 9-2, while the Northern Irishman, who is making his comeback after several weeks since injuring his ankle in a soccer match with friends, is priced at 9-1.

The European player, world number one by one point ahead of Spieth, said Monday that he is 100 percent recovered from his injury.

Other betting favorites include Dustin Johnson (12-1), Jason Day and Bubba Watson (both 14-1), Justin Rose (18-1) and Rickie Fowler (20-1).

As a curious fact, the senior best positioned in the bettors’ preferences is Miguel Angel Jimenez (3-2), followed by Vijay Singh (9-4) and Colin Montgomerie (7-2).

It is also curious to see the bets on the chances of making a hole in one. In this case, there are three favorites, Adam Scott, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson, and all with the same prize for bettors: $100 for every dollar invested.

The tournament will be played from tomorrow until Sunday at the Whistling Straits course, Sheboygan, Winsconsi. It will distribute ten million dollars in prizes, of which 1.8 million dollars will be pocketed by the winner.

There are four Spaniards in play: Sergio García, Jiménez, Pablo Larrazábal and Rafael Cabrera-Bello.
