From March 29 to April 1, four Spanish golfers will compete in one of the most prestigious events in the world.
For the first time since the creation of the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur, a tournament held at the Champions Retreat and Augusta National courses in the U.S. state of Georgia, four golfers will represent Spanish golf: Cayetana Fernández, Carolina López-Chacarra, Julia López (pictured) and Carla Tejedo.
The four have received the invitation, which is mainly obtained by World Ranking, for the merits acquired in recent months. Carolina, Julia and Carla have shown an excellent level with their respective teams in the U.S. University League, while Cayetana, currently ranked seventh in the World Ranking, has accumulated excellent results both in Spain and in international competitions.
The event has the presence of 72 players who will play the first two rounds at Champions Retreat. On the 31st there will be a rest day that will give way to the last 18 holes, intended only for the thirty golfers who have passed the cut. This final round will take place at Augusta National.

Three years of life and several notable Spanish performances
In the first edition of the tournament, that of 2019, the Spanish performance, very remarkable, was in charge of the Donostia-based Ainhoa Olarra and the Valencian Marta Perez, who finished in 13th and 21st place, respectively, and who lived a historic moment given that the third and final round of competition was played at the legendary Augusta National, which for the first time was opened to a women’s competition.
In 2021 it was Ana Pelaez who said goodbye with a magnificent aftertaste: she was twelfth with the added merit of overcoming a gray second day (79). Carolina López-Chacarra herself also took part in the event, but missed the cut.
And last year, both Carolina López-Chacarra and Carla Bernat missed the cut.
