Since it was confirmed that the Solheim Cup would be held for the first time in Spain, the date of September 18-24, 2023 was marked in red on the calendar and there are only 100 days left for such an important event to be played at Finca Cortesin, in Casares, Costa del Sol.
And coinciding with this important moment, it has been announced the signing of the agreement between the Solheim Cup and BMW Automotor Premium, Official Dealer of the Bavarian brand in the province of Malaga.
With this partnership, the next Solheim Cup will not only feature an impressive fleet of cars, but will go a step closer to becoming the most sustainable edition in history.
This objective will be achieved thanks to the use of more than 40 official vehicles, all of them electric and distributed among such innovative models as the BMW I7, IX, XM, IX1 and I4.
Alfonso Rodriguez, division director and manager of BMW and Mini of Safamotor Group, pointed out during the official announcement that “approximately 35,000 kilometers will be traveled during the week of the event, and that will translate into more than six tons of CO2 emissions not emitted into the atmosphere. We have to work tirelessly to have a better world and make the event completely sustainable thanks to electrified vehicles”.
Iñigo Aramburu, general manager of Sport & Business, highlighted “the importance of an event like the Solheim Cup 2023 having courtesy vehicles that are not only of high quality, but also environmentally friendly. There can be no better showcase to publicize the strong commitment to sustainability of both the tournament and the Bavarian brand”.
The Solheim Cup is already on the horizon
As of this moment, the 2023 Solheim Cup enters its final stretch, as there are only 100 days left for the best European and American players to meet in the heart of the Costa del Sol.
Almost 14 weeks in which the “Sold Out” sign will most likely be hung, as nearly 80,000 tickets have been sold to date.
A total of 2,400 hours in which the Solheim Cup trophy, that magnificent Waterford crystal cup weighing almost nine kilos, will continue to fulfill the last stages of its journey through the province of Malaga until it reaches Finca Cortesin.
And 144,000 minutes of excitement and uncertainty to know the members of the European and American teams, and in the case of the former, with the hope of having an important Spanish representation.
