The young Marbella resident has qualified -as scratch winner- for the grand finale (Finca Cortesin, August 29) at the first event of this open amateur circuit, played on February 9 at the splendid Old Course of Atalaya Golf, on the Costa del Sol.

As it happened last year with practically all the tournaments of the Circuit, all the places available to play the Atalaya tournament were sold out more than a week in advance. The competition distributed numerous gifts -both to the best classified and during the raffle- sponsored by the Fairway+Blue store in Puerto Banús, Holiday Golf Group and Somontano Denominación de Origen wines. The prize-giving ceremony, at the Atalaya clubhouse, where a paella and salad were served, was presided over by Antonio Sánchez and Luis Navarro, from Andalucía Golf.

As far as the sporting results are concerned, in the first category the victory went to Andrey Shultse, with 39 points, while the second and third positions were obtained respectively by Juan Carlos Mackintosh Cutillas and Alain John Navarro, both with 37 points. In the second category, Pablo Ortega Briesemeister won with 42 points, second was Ismael Ortega Calvente, with 39 points, and in third position was classified, with one point less, Antonio Muñoz Lanzas. It also extends its geographical area, reaching more parts of the country, since in addition to the Costa del Sol will be held in the provinces of Madrid, Seville, Segovia and Cadiz.

Apart from the usual emblematic Costa del Sol courses of the Circuit, this year it will be played at the Real Club de Golf de Sevilla, Golf Santander (Madrid), Retamares (Madrid), Los Ángeles de San Rafael (Segovia), Fairplay Golf Resort (Cádiz) and Novo Sancti Petri (Cádiz). The Costa del Sol venues are, in order of play date, the following: Atalaya Old Course, RCG Guadalhorce, Mijas Los Lagos, Santa Clara Marbella, Valle Romano, RCG Sotogrande, Los Arqueros, RC Valderrama, San Roque New Course, Flamingos Villa Padierna, La Reserva de Sotogrande and Finca Cortesín.

As was the case in 2018 (in 2019 the destination was the Riviera Maya), the top five in the circuit will be awarded a one-week trip to the Dominican Republic, with an all-inclusive stay at the five-star Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville hotel, and golf at the spectacular Ocean’s 4, Punta Espada and Teeth of the Dog courses. The scheduled date for the trip is October 26 to November 2, 2020.

These five winners will come out of the grand final of the circuit, to be held on August 29 at Finca Cortesin, the scene of three editions of the Volvo World Match Play Championship. The top three in each of the two categories plus the best scratch classified in each tournament will enter the final.
