The Andalucía Golf Challenge Destino Caribe will begin on May 5 at RCG Guadalhorce

Malaga’s Real Club de Golf Guadalhorce will be the first stage of the Andalucía Golf Challenge 2018 Circuit Destination ‘La Romana Golf Club Bahía Príncipe’ in Dominican Republic. The Circuit was scheduled to start last April 7 at the Old Course of San Roque Club, but, due to the forecast of rain, it was decided to postpone that tournament until next May 20.

The registration fee for the tournament at the RCG Guadalhorce is 60 euros, buggy not included. The prize-giving cocktail and the raffle are included. There will be important prizes for the first three classified in each category, as well as for the winners of the longest drive (male and female), closest ball to the flag and special scratch prize. Tee-off will be at 9.30 am.

The RCG Guadalhorce course, which celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year, is characterized by its beautiful natural surroundings, free of buildings. The original layout, designedby the Finnish architect Kosti Kuronen, was redesigned by the great Malaga champion Miguel Ángel Jiménez. It is worth mentioning the clubhouse, located in a beautiful 18th century farmhouse.

FIELD DESCRIPTION

The course, with its 6,194 meters, can be considered a long course, par 72. It has two distinct parts. The first, from holes 1 to 9, is a typical English parkland with unsophisticated vegetation and no lakes, extending over gentle hills and watercourses, easy to overcome on foot even on hot summer days. The fairways have been adapted to the terrain with only two steep slopes, those of holes 1 and 5. Its difficulty lies in the large number of outs and its fast and large greens.

On the second nine holes, earth was moved to elevate the greens and diversify the fairways. This course is made difficult by water areas that influence holes 10, 11, 14, 16 and 17, as well as by the reading of the greens, due to their speed and difficult to execute slopes. The entire course has a variety of trees, both native and newly planted, and several lakes. One of the most characteristic holes is hole 6 (354 meters), where it is very easy to reach from two, but which has an elevated green with diabolical drops.

Ideal for large tournaments, the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf is a long course where low and medium level amateurs can also enjoy.
